#RockSolidHistory from Hershfield Park in Pompton Lakes, NJ!
This tiny but chock full park has a small trail that meanders along the Wanaque River, as well as a dog park, sports fields, tennis courts, playground, and snack bar. The wooded area has remnants of past structures and neat boulders with sedimentary rock layers. Henry Grah Hershfield was Mayor of Pompton Lakes starting in 1909 for four consecutive terms. This park was dedicated to him in 1939. He passed away two years prior. Hershfield was a Spanish American War veteran. #pomptonlakeshistory #hershfieldpark #HenryGrahHershfield #PomponLakesfootbridge #localgeologyNJ #NJhistory #Historyiseverywhere #GetOutdoorsNJ #GardenStateHistory
