#HappyPioneerDay and #RockSolidHistory from #PioneertownCA!
Today is Pioneer Day in Southwestern states, where the bravery of people who set out to Western territory, which they believed was a huge empty wilderness, is celebrated. It highlights the arrival of Mormons in particular to Utah on July 24, 1847. Both the Homestead Act and the advent of the Gold Rush brought people out West and created the ranching and cowboy lifestyle. Pappy and Harriet’s, a restaurant in Pioneertown, highlights this lifestyle. It is located on a former movie set used for Westerns. Many Americans still revere this cowboy culture today. #PappyandHarriets #CelebratingPioneers #CowboyCulture #GoldRushHistory
